Mini Pin wheels
Super easy ‘bite sized pin-wheels’ for #babyledweaners 6mo+ and the family... perfect for little hands.... the recipe below makes 10 tomato/mozzarella pinwheels AND 10 pesto pinwheels all in one pastry sheet. Feel free to make 1 type of pinwheels and bigger! by using 1 topping and rolling 1 sheet of pastry up once. I made two types and mini ones: 1. Mozzarella & tomato, and 2. Pesto Super easy to make! Get your baby or toddler to help make them, so much fun... Ava loved them ? and so did hubby! They are nice and soft to eat with a little crunch... great to add texture and variety into bubs diet. Feel free to mix up the toppings... savoury or sweet wheels ?? ie grated apples and cinnamon are yummy ?
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of Puff pastry (320 grams)
- 3 tablespoons of Pesto
- 1/4 cup tomato purée
- 1 ball of mozzarella
- (Note: read labels, watch for salt content in pestos and sauces or make your own ?)
Directions
- Step 1 Preheat oven 200dc. Roll out pastry out into a rectangle and cut in half long ways, then cover the pastry with preferred toppings (I did half half in the pic)
- Step 2 Roll up each side of the pastry with toppings (long ways) – as per pic. Then cut into 1 inch pin wheels, then lay them all out facing up on a non stick pan.
- Step 3 Place in oven for approx 15 to 20min on 200dc (depends how thick you made them)
- Step 4 Once cooked, eat straight away or leave to cool and can freeze ❄ for up to 3 months.
Thank you! Could you give some other ingredient suggestions that might work well?
Apple sauce with blueberries and cinnamon OR tomato purée with ham and cheese OR tomato purée with ham and pineapples OR cream cheese and spinach
Soooo many combos (have a look in your fridge or pantry and mix and match) xx hope this helps.
Hi, when freezing recipes like these would they need to be reheated before eating? We don’t have a microwave currently (can you believe it in this day and age) so I find the process of reheating food stressful but being able to bulk make things and freeze them is ideal!
Hi! What pastry did you use for these? Or did you make your own?
Thanks!
Either make your own with flour and butter OR buy some from the supermarket – get the one with low salt ?
thank you lovely x
