Easy Hummus (5 Ingredients)
Rather than store bought hummus, make your own at home for your baby led weaner and family! At least you will know what is exactly in it! No preservatives, no sugars or salt! Hummus is made from cooked chickpeas (which are packed full of nutrients with a rich source of vitamins, minerals and are high in plant-based protein!), *tahini (is roasted sesame seed paste), garlic, olive oil and lemon! Enjoy my recipe xx Rach (*tahini may be a potential food allergy to some babies with a family history, please speak with your doctor is you have any questions or concerns about your baby)
Ingredients
- 1 x 400g tin of chickpeas (in water)
- 1 heap tablespoon of tahini
- 1 heap tablespoon greek/natural yogurt
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 lemon
- extra virgin olive oil (2 tablespoons)
Directions
- Step 1 In a food processor, combine tahini and olive oil until smooth. Then add the garlic, chickpeas, yogurt and squeeze half a lemon until smooth and combined. Can sprinkle some paprika on top if you feel like offering a little spice.
- Step 2 Either serve straight up as a dip with flat bread or veggies!
- Step 3 Hummus is terrific served with flat bread (check out my easy recipe for flat bread), roasted vegetables or fresh vegetables! For baby led weaners 6 to 12 months serve the dip pre-loaded on finger size cooked veggie sticks (ie roasted carrots, boiled sweet potato, cucumber sticks etc) so bub can pick it up and hold in his fist. 12 months+ you can start to teach bubs how to dip!
- Step 4 This can be stored in the fridge between 3-5 days and up to 6 months in the freezer.
Thank you so much for your posts and keeping up your blog! These are so helpful.

So awesome !
Thank you for your blog!
My LO just started blw (he seems to be doing well so far) and I’ve been googling trying to find healthy and easy recipes/info on blw. Or just mommies who have experienced blw personally and are able to share and offer there methods and recipes.
So far I’ve found two people (i like-meaning I spent a while on my couch just reading their blogs, watching their youTube videos etc. Lol!) that have healthy, awesome – tried and true foods!
You’re one of them ?!
I’m excited to start trying these recipes.
Thank you!
Thanks lovely! What a sweet message xx let us know how you go!

Hi, do you have to cook the chickpeas first? Thanks
canned chickpeas are already cooked.
If using raw chickpeas yes you must cook them x
Should the chickpeas be drainer or do you use the water in the recipe. Mine has turned out quite thick but I drained the chickpeas!
yes drain the water out.
Hi! Is it possible to make this in an ordinary blender (like a ninja) rather than a food processor?
Sure can ?
