BLWer Yogurt balls (Y0-Y0 Balls)
Back by popular demand from all my Mum and Dad followers! BLWer Yogurt-balls (yo-yo balls). You can either make yo-yo balls the evening before which I prefer as it sets a lot better, or make it on the spot! If making it the night before, put in a container in the fridge. Take out in the morning and spoon out balls to put on Bubs high chair tray! So simple - easy - delicious - easy to pick up! Suitable for 6m+ Even mum eats this with bub in the morning. Both work! Depending if you added fruit or not, this can last up to 3-5 days in the fridge, you don't have to think about breakfast! keeping the dairy up! Note: watch out for dairy allergies if runs in the family.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole oats
- 2x tablespoon heap of full fat Greek yogurt
- *A small handful of blueberries
- (*add what you like! We had blueberries is the fridge so added these and bub loves them! i.e. blueberries, strawberries, Chia seeds, cinnamon, peanut butter, crumbed nuts, coconut, apple, peach etc what ever you have in the fridge)
Directions
- Step 1 Mix raw oats (not cooked), yogurt and *blueberries in a bowl or a storage container
- Step 2 Once combined, cover the bowl or container and place straight into the fridge!
- Step 3 Job done. In the morning just spoon straight out from the container to the highchair for bub’s breakfast (no rolling needed)
I’m confused – wouldn’t the uncooked oats upset your baby’s stomach? Do you really not cook them before combining with the other ingredients?
The oats are soaked and mixed with the yogurt which softens them up ?just like Muesli… it didn’t upset Ava’s tummy.
Thank you! These were great! Do you think you could make a big batch and freeze them?
Update. I flash froze the balls on a tray, then bagged it. Defrosting properly was a bit of a challenge and they sometimes ended up a little warm but still tasty and baby loves them! So, I make a big batch of these! I use a cookie scoop to get the same size….he now eats 4-5 at breakfast!! Thank you for recipe!
Fab work! How did u defrost them? The night before in the fridge? X
I think the night before would be ideal, a few mornings I put them on the counter as soon as we got up and by breakfast they were fine (maybe 2 hours)…but I usually forgot…so most days ended up popping them in the microwave and using the defrost setting in 30 second intervals until no longer frozen in center…
? great! X
Sue can! They can freeze up to 3 months in airtight container. To defrost just leave out in room temperature for 30min-1hr ?
These are delicious, my baby loves them! Thank you 🙂
Great xx thanks for the feedback lovely
Are these rolled or quick oats? Can you freeze them like the snow ball recipe?
you can use quick oats or rolled oats. Yes you can freeze them for up to 3 months. Defrost in the fridge over night.
